Symptoms
Report Commander fails when processing a report, giving error "Failed to load database information." This happens if the report uses a database driver that relies on Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), and also affects the XML data source.
Cause
This problem occurs because the Crystal Reports runtime distributed with Report Commander does not include Java support by default.
Resolution
To resolve this problem you must install additional software components, and possibly the Java runtime. The necessary software and instructions are available from SAP.
Download the appropriate version of the Crystal Reports Web Services/XML Data driver depending on the version of Report Commander you have installed:
- Report Commander 2.6: CRVS2010WX24_0-10010309.zip
- Earlier versions of Report Commander: Not supported. Please update to version 2.6.
Extract the files from the ZIP to a temporary folder, then follow the instructions in the enclosed "Deploying Web Services XML data driver.pdf" to enable support for the Java-based drivers.
Additional Information
Affected data sources include:
- JDBC connection
- XML data source
- DB2 connection using JDBC
- Native salesforce.com driver
