Summary
This article explains how to reset the connection with an Agent if jobs are not running correctly on the Agent.
Symptoms
Problems may occur that cause the Master and one or more Agents to stop communicating properly. When this happens you may see any of the following symptoms
- Jobs do not get sent to the Agent for execution. The status on the Master may be "Waiting for Agent," "Dispatched to Agent," "Not Run," or others.
- Jobs appear to have been sent to the Agent but do not appear to execute
- Jobs can be observed executing on the Agent but their status is not reported back to the Master
Resolution
In all of these cases it is often sufficient to reset the connection between the Master and the affected Agent(s) to resolve the problem.
Note that this will clear any pending job execution commands waiting to be sent to the Agent(s) and will cause any job status and history updates waiting to be sent back to the Master to be lost.
To perform the resync:
- In the adTempus Console on the Master, go to the Remote Agents view in the main Console Tree.
- Select the affected Agent(s).
- Right-click and select the Resynchronize command.
It may take several minutes for the resynchronization to complete and jobs to begin executing again.
Further Troubleshooting
If the resync does not resolve the issue, follow the instructions in this article to enable full diagnostic logging on the Master and the affected Agent. Wait until the problem next occurs (e.g.,, a job triggers and fails to run on the Agent) so that the logs have time to capture the details. Then gather the logs and open a support request for assistance.
