Symptoms

Email notification (using SMTP) fails and adTempus logs an error message similar to the following:

IOException occurred during SSL negotiation. InnerException message follows: Authentication failed because the remote party has closed the transport stream

Cause

This problem appears to occur because the adTempus mail client offers to use deprecated SSL security protocols and negotiations for the supported TLS protocols do not occur correctly.

Resolution

adTempus has been updated to no longer support SSL for email connections, forcing the connection to use TLS instead.
