Symptoms

Report Commander fails with the following error message:

Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, Version=13.0.2000.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Cause

This problem occurs if the Crystal Reports runtime components used by Report Commander are upgraded to a newer version than what is installed by Report Commander. This can happen if you install another program that uses the runtime and that includes a newer version.

The problem has been observed when installing SAP Business One or Crystal Reports 2016.

Resolution

For Report Commander 2.6: This problem should not occur, as version 2.6 is using the latest Crystal Reports runtime.

For Report Commander 2.5: This problem can be resolved by upgrading to version 2.6 or by installing configuration files that tell Report Commander to use the newer runtime version.

  1. Download ReportCommander_ConfigurationUpdate_K00000572.zip.
  2. Extract the four configuration files from the ZIP into the Report Commander program folder:
    • ProjectEditor.exe.config
    • CommandLineBuilder.exe.config
    • adcrutil.exe.config
    • adrcexec.exe.config

Note: If any of the configuration files already exist in the Report Commander program folder, you must merge the contents of the new file into the existing file using a text editor.

Report Commander should now function properly using the newer runtime.
