Symptoms

When you try to connect to an adTempus server using the Console, the following error message is displayed:

Server "XXX" is running an incompatible version of adTempus. No connection can be made. (0xC000A419)

Cause

The most common cause of this error is if you are trying to connect to a server running a version of adTempus other than 3.x. The 3.x client cannot connect to servers running other versions of adTempus.

The error has been reported in a few cases where the adTempus service has failed or partially failed, causing it to return bad data which the Console interprets as a sign of an incompatible server. In this case, restarting the adTempus service resolves the problem. If Windows is unable to stop the adTempus service, you must terminate the "adtempussrv.exe" process using Task Manager, then start the service back up. The connection should then succeed.
