This article describes how to move an Agent assigned to one Master to a different Master.
More Information
Once an Agent has been attached to a Master, it remembers that Master and cannot be connected to another Master until it is reset. Follow this procedure to reset the Agent and attach it to a new master.
Note: This article is for adTempus version 3.x only. For adTempus 4 and later, consult the program documentation for instructions on resetting an Agent.
On the Current Master
- Remove the Remote Agent from any Job Queues to which it is assigned.
- Delete the Remote Agent from the Remote Agents panel in the Console.
On the Agent
- Stop the adTempus service.
- Run the adtenginemode tool found in the adTempus program directory.
- Check the Reset master box near the bottom of the window.
- Click OK to close the tool.
The Agent will now accept a connection from the new Master. However, it still contains all jobs and data sent to it by the old Master. If you want to remove this data, you can clear the adTempus database as described in article K00000408. Note: This will clear all data in the adTempus database. If your Agent also contains locally-managed jobs, they will be cleared as well. If you need to preserve locally-managed jobs, you will need to remove the Agent jobs manually rather than using the clear process.
Start the adTempus service. The Agent will now attach to the first Master that contacts it.
On the New Master
Add the agent from the Remote Agents panel in the Console.
