Symptoms
When you uncheck the Automatically refresh data from the server option in the properties window for a server connection, it is no longer possible to refresh the Console manually (by selecting Refresh from the View menu or pressing F5).
Further, if the Console is closed and reopened, no jobs are listed for the server. When you select the Jobs node in the Console, the "hourglass" (wait) cursor appears for 20-30 seconds, but no jobs are listed.
Workaround
Do no disable auto-refresh. If the auto-refresh is causing problems for you, leave it enabled but set the refresh interval to a large value.
